INSPIRATION FROM THE SUCCESSFUL ON OVERCOMING HARD TIMES
This is for those who have been going through difficult times in life or maybe know someone going through that and could be of encouragement. Especially those whose lives seem to be moving from bad to worse; from the pot into the fire; between a hard place and a rock…you get the picture
Sometimes life seems to be so harsh and painful. You fail in your exams, lose a job, lose a close person, your relationships are not working, the people who you expect to be there are not there, you have been looking for a job with no success, your business or businesses are failing; every time you are about to get your big break something seems to go wrong.
And to make things worse, when you compare yourself to those around you, your peers and colleagues, they seem to be doing quite well.
The pressure comes in and no one seems to understand your situation. The stress is real…and without the right coping mechanisms such as someone to talk or someone who who can understand and even help; one can end up in depression and into bad habits.
But you don’t have to give up during this difficult time because you know what, this is just a season of life and it will come to pass. I know that that may be hard to hear but its true. Look at the people who have achieved major success in life, majority of them went through periods of difficulty and discouragements
Oprah Winfrey– Experienced an abusive childhood,Was fired from her first job as an anchor for apparently being unfit for TV; but she is now one of the most successful women in the world and owns her own TV Network.
J.K. Rowling– A single parent who was nearly penniless and depended on welfare to survive, severely depressed, was attending school while she was writing a novel, faced rejection by publishers before her break. After all that she became the first billionaire author
Thomas Edison-He was told he was too stupid to learn anything by his teachers; fired from his first two jobs for not being productive enough; failed 10000 times at inventing the light-bulb. Became the world’s leading inventor; he invented the phonograph, motion picture camera, the electric bulb and owned over 2000 patents.
Albert Einstein– He didn’t speak until he was 4 and didn’t read until he was 7; his parents and teachers thought he was mentally handicapped and eventually he was expelled from school. He went ahead to win a Nobel prize and laid the foundation of modern physics
Walt Disney– Was told that he lacked imagination and had no good ideas and fired from that job, he went into business and was unsuccessful and bankrupt; but he went on to create the Disney Empire.
Michael Jordan– Cut from his high school basketball team. Also faced some challenges in his career and he said “I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”. One of the greatest basketball players
Abraham Lincoln– Born into poverty and failed at the things he tried until he was over the age of forty. He lost his job, failed in business, his sweetheart died, he lost 8 elections yet he went on to become one of the greatest Presidents in the history of the USA
These are just but a few, and i am sure you have listened to, watched or read of people who have been through hell in life but now are living happy and successful lives.
All these people went through difficult things and could have easily given up; but they did not, they overcame the difficult circumstances and kept growing strong. They did not let those circumstances define them; they conquered
So before you give up, think about these people. You too can be great; you too can make it. Your big break is coming; it may have taken months or years but the time is coming
So don’t give up..keep pressing on
