In Today’s post we get to learn a few tips on how to Be Productive and Actually Get things Done!

This is not about trying to find more time in our already full schedules but about learning how to best utilize the time we have and even freeing up some of that time to do more stuff that we enjoy.

By now we know that BEING BUSY DOES NOT EQUATE TO BEING PRODUCTIVE!!

Being busy is about being being occupied while being Productive is about Meaningful work and about being efficient with your time and resources.

SECRET: Once you are efficient in the tasks you do you actually free up time to do more things that you Love such as Spending time with Loved ones, Your Hobbies and Fun Activities which makes you Motivated and that Motivation makes you More Productive. And the Cycle continues.

To prove this to you i would like to  CHALLENGE  you is to track how you spend your time for a week. You will be surprised at how much time gets wasted on unnecessary issues.

 

So how do you Actually Get Things Done and in an efficient manner?

Have a Basic Plan

It is important to have a basic idea of how your day will be.  You can do this on a daily basis or a weekly basis.

This puts you ahead of the game as you can be Proactive instead of being Reactive. Being Proactive puts you in a position of power- You Rule the day, the day doesn’t rule you!!

So how do you plan for your day?

  • List down all the tasks you need to perform including rest or leisure time
  • Prioritize from most important/ urgent to the least
  • Write down the amount of time to perform each task
  • Make a schedule of all the tasks

 

Know When You are Most Productive

Are you a Morning Person, A night Owl or Even an Afternoon Person?

Schedule the tasks that require a lot of focus and energy when you are most productive

 

Have an Energizing Morning/ Wake-Up Routine

The way you start your day sets the tone for the rest of the day.  Even successful people know this secret and use it strategically to make the most out of their days. A good morning routine  will intentionally/ unintentionally set you up for Success. So use this tool wisely

The routine can be anything from Meditation, Exercising, An Energizing Breakfast, Journaling, Reading and anything else that motivates and gets you fired-up for the day.

Find out what activities work for you and do them!

 

Eat the Frog First

This entails doing the tasks that you dread most first.

By doing this, you are putting the worst behind you and can look forward to the rest of the day because the tasks ahead of you are things that you can actually enjoy. This will even increase your motivation plus there is a bonus of knowing that you beat procrastination.

 

Follow the 2 Minute Rule

This is whereby if  a certain task is quick to do (2 minutes or less) you do it immediately.

This will free you up to do more important tasks.

 

Keeping Healthy

Eating healthy, Exercising and Even Having Healthy Thoughts and a positive Mindset will definitely keep you productive.

You will find yourself feeling energetic and thus be able to do more.

 

Work in an Inspiring Environment

Having things around that inspire you will definitely lift your mood and that way you will become more productive.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Have an organized work area
  • Have motivating colors around you
  • Nice window scenery
  • Having your Vision Board or inspiring Images within your Sight
  • Having plants near your work area
  • Working in a coffee shop

 

Take Breaks

We cant just Work Work Work all the time. Our bodies need rest. Take breaks- this will re-energize you and give you a fresh perspective. Even the Machines we use need regular servicing and the apps that we use are updated once in a while, what about you then? Don’t skip that lunch break or other breaks at work and relax on your off day.

 

Review

On a weekly, fortnight or monthly basis, take time to review whats working, whats not and adjust your tactics appropriately.
