Consider the Benefits

Exercising has so many Benefits:

  • Helps in Weight-loss
  • Tones your body
  • Reduces risks of diseases such as heart diseases, diabetes
  • Produces feel good hormones thus promotes better mood/happiness
  • Reduces Stress and fatigue
  • Boost energy and increases productivity
  • Boost Confidence
  • Improves Memory
  • Promotes for discipline and Willpower
  • Increases strength and Flexibility

 

Start Small

Starting small is the easiest way to adopt a habit. This reduces chances of getting overwhelmed and giving up on the new habit

Set out Small goals and once you achieve them, take it to the next level:

  • Time-wise- Start with 5 mins and increase as you get comfortable
  • Complexity- Start with something simple like stretches, or walking-Jogging-then Running

 

Choice

There are many forms of exercises. You are actually spoilt for choice. Choose something that you enjoy. And if you don’t know which form of exercise to start, the better for you, because this is a fun opportunity to try out new things

Make it Fun

  • Listen to some Inspiring, Motivating and Energizing Music
  • Do it with some fun people
  • Personalize the exercise to something that you enjoy
  • Do it with your kids

 

Get Motivation

  • Listen to motivating Music when exercising
  • Get a work-our buddy or community
  • Follow People and Pages on Social Media who are into Fitness
  • Google Motivational Exercise Quotes
  • Have Pictures on Your Vision Board of Your Fitness Goals

 

Leverage Time

Sneak in some exercises as you do mundane Tasks:

  • Do some exercise as you watch TV or during Commercial Breaks or at the Start/End song of a Movie
  • As you wait for Your Laundry To Get Done
  • As you are Folding Your Clothes

 

Have Prompts

  • Just before you get into the Shower. This is something i love to do..sneak in some 2-5mins workouts
  • Immediately You Get Out of Bed
  • Immediately After Your Morning Water/ Fruit/ Snack
  • Just Before You Sit Down to Watch TV

 

Tricks

  • Take the stairs Instead of the List
  • Walk or Ride a Bicycle instead of Driving
  • Park furthest from a building you are going into

 

Do a Challenge

A lot of Fitness People and Pages on Social Media have Fitness Challenges on a monthly basis. There are also You-Tube Videos and Websites offering the Same Even a Beginner Series.

Every month Commit to Doing A Challenge

It Could Be Working on a Particular Body Part, the whole Body or Mastering a new Skill for example

  • 30 Day Ab Challenge
  • 30 Day Squat Challenge
  • 30 Day Hand Stand Challenge
  • Beginner Yoga Series

 

Go Hard on The Commitment/ Set High Standards

Take some drastic steps that will make you stick to your goal:

  • Pay that huge fee for gym Membership
  • Get a Personal Trainer and pay him/her in advance
  • Buy that expensive work-out equipment
  • Tell some people who you know will hold you Accountable
  • If you don’t work out then you don’t get to do your favorite thing such as shopping, watching your favorite series, eating your favorite food/drink/dessert…

 

Just Take Action

The Hardest Part of Something is Actually Starting. Push Yourself and Just Start.. That’s the only way to get something Done!

Once You start you will still feel unmotivated but as you continue doing it you will start to gain momentum and it will become enjoyable. Plus work-outs leave you feeling awesome once you are done because they produce the feel-good hormones. So you will not regret exercising.

    Awesome post! Question, is walking alone adequate exercise? (I’m not targeting weight loss)

      Thanks Julz 🙂 . I would say that it is a good start, with at least 20 minutes recommended. Plus it has so many benefits such as toning your legs, strengthening your bones and muscles, improves blood circulation thus better body functioning, reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases, reduce stress, good for creativity and so many more
