Sometimes one may get caught up in the busyness of life that they forget to take care of themselves or put themselves last. This could be things like School, Work, Running a company and Taking care of a family especially when small children are involved.

But its important to realize that if you are not OK then you will not be able to give your best to all these things and people that are important to you. You need to be constantly taking care of yourself, resting and re-energizing.

Here are some things that You can Do as Part of Self care:

Bubble Bath

This is good to relax and enjoy yourself. You can also add bath salts for a detox. You can even have some candles and rose petals depending on what you feel

 

Light Scented Candle

You can do this as You have Your Bath, Meditate, Journal or as you just relaxing

 

Massage

Helps relax your body, relieve fatigue and stress. Also good for blood circulation in the body

You can do this at home or at the spa.

 

Manicure/Pedicure

Give Your hands and Feet some love. Let them relax, detox, nourish them and even enhance their appearance

 

Facial/Skin Care

Give your face and skin special care. This will ensure you have glowing and healthy skin.

 

Use Essential Oils

Essential oils have many benefits such as: Relax your body, reducing anxiety,  making a place smell nice, helps with certain health conditions and many more,

You can also use them in your diffuser to give a certain feel in your home; or a few drops in certain places like lavender oil on your pillow to help sleep and relax.

 

Sleep Enough/ Take a Nap

Make sure you sleep at least 7 hours.

Take a nap when you are feeling tired. This will rejuvenate your strength

Journal

Journaling allows you to empty out what is on your mind. This way you can de-stress, find solutions to problems, get ideas and creativity flowing

You can journal in the Morning or in the evening

 

Meditate/Quiet Time

Meditation has amazing benefits such as: Reduces stress & anxiety, increases your self awareness, helps you connect better and in a positive way with others, increases your happiness, promotes better health and many more.

You can do this in the morning, evening or any time of the day.

 

Gratitude List

Sometimes it may seem like nothing good is happening in your life. But when you take time to do a gratitude list you realize just how much you are blessed

Also when you are positive you attract more positive things in your life. A gratitude list helps you be more positive

You can do this in your journal or have a jar where you put papers with the things you are greatful for and read this later on especially when you are feeling low

 

Read

Read a good book or article: Motivational, Entertaining, Fiction- Something that gets you excited about life.

You can also listen to audio books if you don’t enjoying physically reading

Watch or Listen To Something Inspirational/ Funny

This will help reduce stress and even enhance your creativity

 

Yoga

Yoga has many benefits such as: reduces stress and fatigue, helps deal with anxiety, good blood circulation, mental focus, flexibility, weigh loss and so many more,

You can incorporate this in your MORNING ROUTINE EVENING ROUTINE or any time that is convenient for you.

 

Go For a Walk

Walking Helps you get rid of stress and is good for your health. It also allows you to have a different perspective as you observe different thing in the environment and can help in creativity

 

Enjoy Nature

Nature has so many wonderful things to offer. Take time to enjoy The Sunrise, Sunset, Stars and Skies at night, Forest, Beaches, The Ocean.

 

Exercise

Exercising produces feel good hormones thus reducing stress, making you happier and more confident. It boostes your productivity and good for your health

Eat Healthy

Good Nutrition is vital for our health. Your body needs this in order to function well and also look good. Drink more water, take plenty of fruits and vegetables, avoid processed foods, do a detox

Say No

Learn to say No to things that you don’t want to do and you know are not good for you

 

Separate From Toxic People/ Things/ Habits

Let go of toxic people, things or habits. And if you can’t separate at the moment learn how to deal better with them.

 

Connect with Loved ones

Have quality time with people who are important to you. Call, video-chat, Visit, Go out, Travel, Make Memories

 

Do Something New

Get out of Your comfort zone and try out new things. This is how you get to grow and discover new things that excite you

 

Make Time For Your Hobby

Make time for something that you enjoy doing. This will help to lift your moods

 

Declutter

Take time to Declutter your desk/room/house. A cluttered space demotivates you and stresses you consciously or unconsciously

 

Re-Organize

Once in a while take time to re-organize your space. The New feeling motivates you and inspires creativity and productivity

 

Internet/Social Media Detox

Take time off social media and the Internet. This could be a few hours, a day or even a week. Take time to enjoy and discover real things

 

Review

Take time everyday or at least once a week to evaluate whats working, and whats not and then make necessary adjustments (goals and priorities)

 

There are so many things you can do. But i hope this list inspires you and allows you to begin that journey to self care. Personalize the ideas to meet your needs.

    Love this comprehensive list! I love my bubble baths, being outside, and making a gratitude list.

    Excellent suggestions, Joan! My go-to is a nice buddle bath, where I really treat myself by lighting some scented candles (fall scents are my fav) and indulging in a nice face mask or mani/pedi while I soak. Throw on some relaxing music and I’m in heaven!
